Children’s Place Is Closing 300 Stores

The Children’s Place CEO Jane Elfers is methodically closing more stores and moving her product to digital. It’s shuttering 300 stores by 2020, boosting inventory productivity, growing e-commerce to 20% of sales, expanding its presence on Amazon and spreading its international wings.

Children’s Place Inc. is an American specialty retailer of children’s apparel and accessories. The company also markets apparel under the Children’s Place, Place, and Baby Place brand names.

So what does this mean? They could end up closing more then 300 stores. This could be good news for savvy shoppers. They are likely going to liquidate current merchandise in stores that are going out of business. That means you will see 50% to 90% off sales. I highly suggest calling you local store and asking them if they are closing in 2017.  Sometimes employees are advised not to let anyone know they are closing until its 100% sure (even though they are likely going to close) so I suggest checking your local store often.
