2018 Income Tax Refunds Delayed

2018 Income Tax Refunds Delayed

Tax Filing season will start on Jan. 29th. That would be later than in previous years. The IRS says that for the 2018 income tax filing season, taxpayers with the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) will likely see delays in their refunds. This is exactly what happened last year.Taxpayers with those credits will not receive refunds until at least late in February. The reason for this is because of checks and fraud prevention measures for returns with those credits, which have been abused in the past.

The IRS expects earliest that EITC/ACTC related refunds will be available in taxpayer bank accounts or on debit cards is February 27, 2018 for direct deposits when there are no other issues with the tax return.
