Discover Class Action Settlement Details

    Discover Class Action Settlement

Discover Financial Services faced a class-action lawsuit settlement over allegations of violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) by using artificial or prerecorded voices to call individuals who were not Discover customers between August 25, 2017, and February 7, 2023, regarding Discover credit card accounts. The Settlement Class comprises people and entities across the United States who received such calls but were not Discover customers. Discover denies the accusations but agreed to the settlement.

The Settlement Agreement and Release document defines the terms and conditions of the settlement, including the payments that eligible class members could receive. The settlement of $1,000,000 will cover the settlement costs, including cash awards, attorney fees, out-of-pocket expenses of up to $15,000, and a service award of up to $10,000 to the Plaintiff. The Class Counsel estimates the Settlement Award could range between $40 to $110, depending on the number of valid Claim Forms submitted.

To claim the settlement award, eligible members must submit a Claim Form by June 7, 2023. The Claim Form must include evidence of the Discover calls received, such as phone records, and accurate information about the phone number that received the calls. Class members can submit their Claim Forms online or by mail.
