An RV travel budget is easier to use when it separates the vehicle from the trip. Fuel, campsite reservations, groceries and small equipment purchases can add up even after the keys are yours. Plan a realistic route and a manageable first trip before building a long equipment wish list.
Estimate a route you can enjoy
List each overnight stop and the driving distance between stops. Compare campsite charges, hookup options and any reservation fees. Include a backup location in case the first choice is unavailable.
Leave room in the schedule for grocery shopping, setup and a slower travel day. An itinerary that is comfortable to follow is easier to keep within budget.
Start with essentials and check compatibility
Use the vehicle’s manual and the campsite’s requirements to make your packing list. Check storage dimensions, load limits and connection requirements before buying accessories. Avoid ordering a complete collection before you know what you will use.
Make separate lists for equipment you already own, items you can borrow and purchases you genuinely need.
Give grocery rewards a defined role
Plan meals around the refrigerator and cooking space available. A short shopping list reduces food waste and extra store stops. Keep ordinary groceries separate from optional travel treats.
If you use Fetch, review receipt eligibility and current reward options. A receipt reward is useful when it comes from a purchase you already planned; keep pending points separate from available trip money.
Keep an everyday expense cushion
Include laundry, parking, repairs and an unexpected overnight stay in your planning. Record actual costs during the first trip so your next estimate reflects how you travel. Review ownership expenses separately from vacation spending.
Optional research rewards through YouGov can support a small future goal when redeemed. The separate Basecamp drawing below offers a chance at an RV package, but a possible prize is not part of the trip budget.
