The complete Freebie Mom guide
A disappointing lunch could lead to a better one through the Subway Lunchtime Horrors Promotion. Entrants submit a brief story about a bad lunch experience for a chance to receive a digital Subway gift card.
The Subway gift card prize
Prize: 5,000 winners each receive a $15 digital Subway gift card.
Total winners: 5,000
Total prize value: $75,000
The promotion awards 1,000 prizes during each daily entry period. Winners are selected randomly, so the quality of a submitted story does not affect the chance of winning.
How to enter the Lunchtime Horrors Promotion
Visit the promotion website and complete the registration form. Then submit an original story in English describing a bad lunch you experienced. The story must contain at least 50 characters but no more than 500 characters.
A physical address is required during the entry process, and P.O. boxes are not accepted. Before submitting, check that the story meets the character limit and that the contact information provided is accurate.
Entry limit: Daily entry.
Entries do not carry over between entry periods. Each submission applies only to the entry period in which it is received, so returning throughout the promotion provides additional opportunities to participate within the stated entry limit.
Who is eligible to participate?
Eligibility: 50 U.S. & D.C., 18+.
Entrants should review their information carefully before completing registration. The promotion uses the submitted details to administer entries and contact selected winners.
Closing date and winner details
Deadline: Oct 16, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET
Winners are notified by email and must complete the required verification. After verification, digital gift cards are expected to be delivered by email in approximately two to four days.
Because the prize is digital, it is especially important to enter with an email address that is checked regularly. Watch for messages related to the promotion and follow any verified instructions promptly if selected.
